Distant Running (ferner liefen) is a documentary
about the racetrack "Hoppegarten" in
Berlin, where horse races have been held since
the closing decades oh the 19th century. During
the 2001 season, director Michael Schorr watched
the approaching privatisation of the track, its
unique atmosphere and the microcosm of individuals
such as the announcer and the needlewoman.
